The African champions still have their fate in their own hands, though their task will be anything but easy as they face a strong United States side on matchday three.

Here are the scenarios that would see South Africa book their ticket to the round of 16.

Second place in Group E: A victory over the United States, coupled with a slip-up by France against New Caledonia.
Third place in Group E: A draw or a defeat against the United States, provided they finish among the four best third-placed teams at the end of the group stage.
