Boca have brought Marcelo Weigandt back into squad training, handing Claudio Úbeda an unexpected in-house boost days before competitive action resumes.

According to LaNumer12.com.ar, Úbeda decided the right-back would rejoin the main group after a spell training apart with players returning from loans who were not in his plans.

The change came in recent hours and the coaching staff added him to sessions with the side preparing for Deportivo Riestra. The squad began work on Tuesday for the Torneo Apertura opener, following a 2-1 win over Olimpia in their final pre-season friendly.

Weigandt therefore counts as Úbeda’s first reinforcement of the season. Marino Hinestroza, together with Atlético Nacional, prioritised Vasco da Gama’s offer and will not join Boca.

Boca have yet to complete a signing in this window. San Lorenzo do not want to sell Alexis Cuello and their proposal for him seems to be going nowhere.

For now the movement concerns departures, with a mutual agreement reached to terminate Bruno Valdez’s contract. As with Luis Advíncula, he will leave the club via the same route.
