Ayase Ueda headed Feyenoord in front in the 19th minute from Anis Hadj Moussa's cross after a corner. Kamal Sowah levelled for NAC Breda (22.).

Timon Wellenreuther then tipped away Charles-Andreas Brym's low drive (27.) to keep Feyenoord level.

Luciano Valente restored the visitors' lead with a strike from outside the box (31.) after Mats Deijl's pass. Lucassen Boyd replied with a glancing header (39.) from Boy Kemper's cross, before André Ayew nodded in Lewis Holtby's delivery in the third minute of first half stoppage time.

After the restart, Daniel Bielica denied Raheem Sterling from close range (50.). Ueda equalised with another header (52.), meeting Jordan Bos's cross.

Following a VAR review, Leo Greiml was sent off in the sixth minute of second half stoppage time.

Twelve minutes of added time were indicated after a string of stoppages late on.

Feyenoord finished with 56.7% possession and 14 attempts. NAC Breda produced 12 attempts and made 29 clearances.
