UEFA and CONCACAF call for FIFA to pay 10 million dollars to each federation | OneFootball

UEFA and CONCACAF have urged FIFA president Gianni Infantino to pay at least 10 million dollars in additional funding to each of the 211 member associations over the next three years, using the organisation’s reserves.

Press Association reports that Aleksander Ceferin and Víctor Montagliani wrote to Infantino on Friday, calling the figure conservative and noting FIFA was on course to end the year with six billion dollars in reserves.

Their intervention follows controversy over Infantino’s push to attract private investment into a company running FIFA competitions, including the men’s and women’s World Cups. He had promised bigger development funding if the plan moved quickly, but they said reserves made outside capital unnecessary.

They argued that freeing part of the cash would show members need not choose between development and good governance, investment and integrity, or financial support and proper scrutiny of proposals.

They added that development is an institutional duty of FIFA, not a matter of personal discretion. The confederations proposed a joint analysis to agree how much should go directly to associations, with recommendations for the next FIFA Council meeting.

They said even if 10 million dollars went to every national association, reserves would not fall below one and a half billion dollars during 2027-2030.

After year end, the Council could decide on a larger payout and on an equivalent distribution in 2031-2034.
