According to L'Équipe, UEFA's appeals body will decide this afternoon on Gianluca Prestianni's provisional suspension, a ruling that will determine if he can play the Champions League play-off second leg, Real Madrid v Benfica, in Madrid at 21:00 tonight.

Benfica have appealed the initial measure and asked for a suspensive effect while the case is examined.

The Argentine was provisionally banned after allegedly using potentially racist language during last week's first leg at home, which Benfica lost 0-1 to Real Madrid.

He is suspected of directing the Spanish word for monkey at the Brazilian Vinicius.

UEFA's disciplinary commission imposed the provisional sanction after a disciplinary inspector's report considered Prestianni had committed an illicit act. A definitive ruling on the wider case will come later.
