Following a successful bid by the DFB, Deutsche Bank Park will be a host venue for the Women’s European Championship.
Thanks to the German Football Association’s (DFB) successful bid, Deutsche Bank Park will host a major football event for the fourth time this century.
Having previously been a host city at the 2006 FIFA Men’s World Cup, the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup and UEFA EURO 2024, UEFA Women’s EURO 2029 will be the fourth international tournament to take place in Frankfurt. As such, Deutsche Bank Park is the only stadium in the country to feature at all four competitions.
This development further strengthens the city’s and the stadium’s status as hosts of major sporting events. For example, in May of last year Frankfurt was also awarded the UEFA Europa League final in 2027.
Preparations will now begin as the sense of anticipation builds for the next home European Championship for a German national team. We also extend our gratitude to UEFA for the confidence they have placed in us.
Axel Hellmann, CEO of Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG, said: “We at Eintracht Frankfurt are very pleased with the decision, as it will give girls’ and women’s football a major boost. We know that we’re capable of organising major tournaments like this. Congratulations to the DFB!”
