Ukrainian FA backs UEFA and criticises Gianni Infantino over FIFA transparency row | OneFootball

According to L'Équipe, sources close to the Ukrainian Association of Football say the federation backs UEFA's hard line against Gianni Infantino after his now-abandoned commercial plan.

All 55 UEFA member associations are officially aligned behind the European body, which has threatened a boycott aimed at the FIFA president. UEFA had criticised Infantino after revelations about a plan to set up a commercial company to sell World Cup stakes.

The Ukrainian federation, chaired by former star Andriy Chevtchenko, has taken a position on both the proposal and Infantino’s role within FIFA.

It is also disappointed by the process, viewing the plan to cede a private share in the World Cup as lacking consultation and transparency.

Tensions with FIFA predate this dispute due to Russia’s reintegration into world football. On 25 June, Russia was cleared to enter the new U15 World Cup, its first involvement in a FIFA competition since the invasion of Ukraine in late February 2022 and its overall exclusion.
