Unai Nuñez to join Espanyol on loan from Celta, option to buy | OneFootball

According to El Correo, Unai Nuñez is joining Espanyol on loan from Celta, with an option to buy. It is another temporary move.

The 29-year-old from Portugalete arrives after a request from Monchi, who wants to strengthen the centre of defence. He began last season at Hellas Verona, then switched to Valencia in the winter window.

At Valencia he played 14 official matches, starting 10, and produced solid displays until a muscle injury curtailed his run late in the campaign.

He still featured in the final weeks, but Valencia did not keep him and he returned to Celta, where Claudio Giráldez has not included him in plans for the new season.

Previously with Athletic, Nuñez made 131 official appearances and scored three goals, against Celta, Huesca and Ibiza, the last in the Copa del Rey. He won the Spanish Supercopa in 2021.
