Unai Simón named in Athletic squad to face Atalanta | OneFootball

Unai Simón has been named in Athletic’s 23-man travelling squad for Friday’s Trofeo Bortolotti at Atalanta, the final outing of Edin Terzić’s first pre-season.

According to El Correo, the international goalkeeper returned to Lezama on Monday for medical tests after finishing his post-World Cup holiday, and he is included only days later.

Terzić still cannot call on Nico Williams and Aymeric Laporte, who extended their rest after the tournament and will not travel to Italy. Iñaki Williams is named in the group.

Right-back Andoni Gorosabel is left out again, having not been called for any friendlies during pre-season. The pattern goes beyond simple minutes management and reinforces the impression he does not figure in the new project.

Athletic face Atalanta at the Stadio di Bergamo from 20.45 on Friday. The match will be shown live on Athletic Play, the club’s new audiovisual platform.
