Union Berlin are set to sign Emmanuel Latte Lath from Atlanta United on a one-year loan agreed between the parties, a move that will open a designated player (DP) slot for the MLS club, according to BuLi News.

Union Berlin have won the race for the Ivorian striker, with Middlesbrough earlier linked with bringing him back to Riverside Stadium a year after his €21 million move.

Latte Lath has 11 goals in 48 appearances for Atlanta United. He missed the last three matches, including yesterday’s 3-2 loss to Philadelphia Union after they squandered a two-goal lead in the final 20 minutes.

Atlanta United currently sit bottom of the Eastern Conference.

Union Berlin have struggled for results in pre-season, though a late brace from Ilyas Ansah salvaged a 2-2 draw with Cagliari earlier today.
