Union St Gilloise are already making moves this summer. The cup holders, who finished second in the Pro League behind Club Brugge, have wasted no time in bringing in new players ahead of the new season. The side have announced the signing of young Czech midfielder Ondrej Kricfalusi from Banik Ostrava. The 22-year-old, who has represented the Czechia national team at U21 level, has signed a deal with Union St Gilloise until 2030.
Kricfalusi began his career in Prague with Slavia, but only made eight appearances for the first team. He spent time with Teplice, making 42 games before leaving Slavia Prague to join Banik Ostrava last summer. The holding midfielder had a fantastic season with Banik Ostrava, making 32 appearances for the side and scoring eight goals. This came despite the side having a poor season overall, finishing bottom of the Czech top flight during the regular season before recovering somewhat during the relegation group playoffs. Banik Ostrava eventually managed to avoid relegation from the top flight, but it was clear that Kricfalusi would be leaving given how well he had played.
Union St Gilloise have done brilliant work in the transfer market in recent seasons, signing players from leagues not many are looking at.
