Universitatea Craiova secured the Romanian title on Sunday, wrapping up the crown with a match to spare.
According to L'Équipe, they lead the Superliga, Romania's top division. They overpowered runners-up Universitatea Cluj 5-0 to make the outcome certain.
It is the first top-flight crown for the club formed in 2013 on the ruins of FC Universitatea Craiova, a historic side founded in 1948 and dissolved in 2011.
Counting the old honours, it is the club’s fifth league title and the first since 1991.
Craiova also completed a domestic double after winning the Romanian Cup in mid-May, defeating Universitatea Cluj 1-0.
The success also crowns Frenchman Steven Nsimba, who arrived from Aubagne last summer for his first experience abroad.
