Tobias Lauritsen teed up the opener in the second minute of first half stoppage time as Sparta Rotterdam and Go Ahead Eagles drew 2-2. The Norway forward's all-round display set the platform for the hosts.
Before the interval, he burst across the box and squared for Shunsuke Mito to sweep in, a classic centre-forward lay-off that unlocked the visitors.
After the restart, he restored Sparta's lead with a glancing header (57.), meeting Mitchell Van Bergen's cross from the right.
He finished with four attempts, eight touches in the box, nine aerial duels won and 10 possessions won, underlining the hold-up presence that kept attacks alive.
At 196cm, the Norwegian drove Sparta up the pitch, pinning defenders and creating room for runners. His weight of passes in the final third, nine successful, repeatedly stretched the Supereagles.
Sparta visit FC Twente next. The Supereagles host PSV.
