Oliver McBurnie struck in the fifth minute of second half stoppage time to give Hull City a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough in the Championship play-off final.
In the 45th minute, McBurnie thundered a diving header off the crossbar from a Ryan Giles cross, a warning of his aerial threat before the break.
Deep into second half stoppage time, he reacted first to a low delivery from Yu Hirakawa that Sol Brynn spilled, sweeping in from close range to settle a tense finale.
McBurnie finished with two attempts, one on target, and won six aerial duels plus six turnovers, giving Hull a constant out ball and pinning defenders when Boro pressed high.
With Boro holding 67.6% possession, his hold-up play and willingness to contest long diagonals helped Hull relieve pressure and carry the game into the moments that mattered most.
He is now on 18 goals, second in the Championship scoring charts.
