In a recent report, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano offered an update on Manchester City and their pursuit of Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez. It has been stated that there have been no talks between the Mancunian club and the Argentine talent, and his future is set to be determined after the FIFA World Cup.

Fernandez’s Impressive Form In The Premier League

Fernandez enjoyed a decent run of form at the West London club after he produced a string of impressive displays for them in the Premier League. The 25-year-old registered 15 goals and picked up seven assists in 54 appearances for Chelsea last season in various competitions.

The Argentine talent is currently among the best playmakers in Premier League football. Therefore, Man City would do well to get a deal over the line for him later this year.

His current contract at the West London club will run out in the summer of 2032, which could make it tough for the Mancunian giants to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

Should Manchester City Boss Enzo Maresca Move In For Fernandez?

Fernandez can shoot the ball with power from long range and has got the eye to play some decisive passes in and around the opponent’s penalty area. He is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top.

The Argentine talent doesn’t mind working hard for his team defensively when required. Fernandez is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also serve as a defensive midfielder or play in the number ten position if told to do so. He has already proven himself in the Premier League and is well-equipped to make an immediate impact at the Mancunian club.

We can expect Fernandez to enhance the quality of Man City boss Enzo Maresca’s midfield. He is good enough to compete for a regular starting place at the Etihad Stadium in the coming seasons.

At 25, Fernandez has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the Mancunian giants to pursue later this year. With all things considered, Maresca would be wise to snap him up before the end of this transfer window.
