Uriarte sets out stance to veterans over San Mamés tickets | OneFootball

The Veterans’ Association has been told it will no longer receive complimentary tickets for San Mamés, with Jon Uriarte’s board setting out its reasons in a letter. According to El Correo, the club cited exceptional demand for access and said more than 11,000 people are waiting to join.

Ibaigane met the former players last week to address the matter. In that meeting the club reiterated its stance and promised to confirm it in writing, which it did yesterday.

The board said it had reviewed several policies in depth because of demand for San Mamés. The letter outlined that pressure on access had forced a rethink.

Some ex-players are unhappy. They argue they represent the club in charity fixtures for social causes and that the occasional invitation was their only reward.

The decision forms part of wider changes affecting red-and-white collectives linked to the club.
