últimes vesprades a Mestalla (úvaM) has launched a contentious-administrative lawsuit against València City Council over the restart of work on the Nou Mestalla.

According to Superdeporte, the claim targets a municipal ruling that rejected úvaM’s requests on the expiry of the planning licence, orders to halt works, and alleged technical flaws in the Execution Project filed by the club on 11 October 2024.

The group says the submission fell short of a true Execution Project and accuses the council of letting construction proceed without tackling the issues or carrying out sufficient technical checks.

It also criticises the council’s conduct in court, noting the judge had to demand the full administrative file on three occasions.

The suit attaches a report by two civil engineers that finds major shortcomings, including the document’s preliminary-edition status, an undefined roof, use of repealed structural codes, and insufficient durability studies for a structure left idle for more than 15 years.

It further warns of potential deficiencies in safety, fire resistance, the photovoltaic installation, and the project’s real budget.

For úvaM, the issue is whether the council could keep the licence in force and allow progress despite those warnings. The association says it will continue to back staying at the current Mestalla, which it maintains is technically viable, economically convenient, and respectful of the club’s urban, sentimental and sporting heritage.
