Renzo Saravia will be a Valencia player until the end of the season, strengthening the right side after Dimitri Foulquier’s injury and giving Carlos Corberán more options.

According to Superdeporte, talks intensified in recent days, driven by the player’s wish to join Mestalla and his status as the club’s first choice for the role. The agreement is in place, with only formalities outstanding.

The defender will travel to Valencia on Friday for a medical and to sign a four-month contract that ties him to the club.

He was a free agent after ending his deal with Atlético Mineiro and, at 32, will return to Europe after a brief stint at Porto, having spent most of his career in Latin America.

Valencia moved two days ago to deregister Foulquier, freeing a squad place to complete a replacement signing.

Concerns over Thierry Rendall’s fitness also encouraged the club to add cover, even though Unai Núñez has been filling in at full-back.
