Valencia appoint Antonio Giner to lead medical department | OneFootball

Valencia have appointed Antonio Giner Marco to head the club's medical department following the dismissal of former chief Pedro López Mateu.

The reshuffle comes amid wider changes at Mestalla, with Carlos Corberán, Ron Gourlay and their staff having departed and Braulio Vázquez arriving alongside Javier Aguirre as head coach. According to Superdeporte, the club are again turning to figures whose previous spells were highly regarded.

Giner specialises in Sport and Exercise Medicine, with a focus on sports traumatology.

He currently works for the Mutua Española de Futbolistas and leads the Sports Medicine Unit at Hospital Quirón Valencia. His career has centred for decades on preventing, diagnosing and treating footballers' injuries.

Giner now begins a new chapter at Valencia after 23 years previously within the club’s medical team, a period when he was part of one of their most successful eras domestically and internationally.
