Valencia CF back in the race for Mason Greenwood as Friday deadline set for deal | OneFootball

La Liga side Valencia CF are back in the race for Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood and the Red Devils reportedly want a solution by Friday.

It has been reported that S.S Lazio and Marseille are the two clubs most interested in signing Greenwood, with United aiming to spark a bidding war between the two.

Problematically for Erik ten Hag’s side, neither club has bid above €20 million, as the Red Devils want something closer to €35 million to make a deal happen.

Juventus have reportedly dropped out of the race for the winger but still harbour an interest in taking fellow United attacker Jadon Sancho on loan.

Corriere dello Sport have claimed that Lazio want to complete a deal and that Marseille “offers him the chance to move to the Velodrome with a leading role.”

“Valencia have also entered the race”, according to the Italian outlet, and this is corroborated by reports in Spain that state the Spanish side “continue to look for offensive moves and have focused on the British player.”

“It will not be an easy move because of everything it implies, but they are going to make an attempt to incorporate him” due to his fine form at Getafe.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Lazio may be able to raise their offer of €20 million in the future but they cannot right now and a move “depends on Manchester United’s requests”.

The Italian outlet also interestingly reports that United want “a solution by Friday” to the Greenwood situation.

“The Red Devils started with a request of 30 million pounds (not euros) and will direct Greenwood’s fate by choosing the best offer,” the outlet says, suggesting a Friday winner-takes-all auction.

The forward was spotted yesterday training in Manchester with former United player Shola Shoretire.

In addition, it has been reported in England that Greenwood has grown “impatient” with a delay in a transfer away from the club and wants a move sorted in the next week, echoing what is being said in Italy.

Valencia getting involved again can only be good news for United as Lazio and Marseille do not currently seem too keen to raise their original offers. However, it also seems Greenwood is in as much a hurry as United are to shift him, so this may ignite one of his admirers into action.

Not only would Greenwood staying at the club create an awkward, unwelcome distraction, but if United are unable to sell the attacker, they will miss out on a fee that could be put to use in this summer’s transfer market.
