Valencia CF have been handed a cautious boost before facing Espanyol, with José Copete and Eray Cömert starting Thursday’s session with the group. According to Superdeporte, the club is operating with maximum precaution over players carrying knocks.

Both defenders then moved to tailored physical work to protect them from any setbacks. Raba is also being managed carefully.

Carlos Corberán is still dealing with several important absences, though for the Mestalla meeting he at least retains two specialist centre-backs from the first-team group.

Copete has been one of Valencia’s standout performers in recent weeks. Signed last summer to cover for Mosquera and Yarek, he has grown in influence and become integral to Corberán’s selections.

January is being used to address gaps left by the previous market, with Sadiq the first arrival and a couple more reinforcements expected. Centre-back is the priority after Diakhaby’s serious injury and Tárrega’s lay-off in the coming weeks, which leaves only Copete and Cömert available.
