Valencia CF’s push for Europe suffered a blow as Celta de Vigo claimed a convincing win at Mestalla on Sunday five April. According to Superdeporte, Valencia were solid before the break, yet Giráldez’s tweaks told and Corberán was second best again.
The visitors seized control after half-time and Valencia’s focus drifted back towards the bottom rather than the European places. It marked Celta’s second heavy victory over Valencia this season.
Guido Rodríguez was rated seven and a half and named the best of the home side, scoring twice, though he was criticised for not closing down the crosser for Celta’s second. Stole Dimitrievski earned a five, with little he could do about two of the three goals.
Unai Nuñez was given five and coped adequately at full-back despite it not being his natural role. César Tárrega and Eray Cömert also received fives, the latter steady at the back and a threat from corners, while Gayà was sufficient with key interventions. Javi Guerra and André Almeida were marked at four and a half, the latter fading after Celta’s quick turnaround and withdrawn late.
Hugo Duro was handed a four after offering no real threat. Lucas Beltrán managed four and a half, Umar Sadiq a five for crafting openings that might have changed the outcome with better support. Thierry Correia was marked four after an anonymous display, and Filip Ugrinic received five for tidy minutes in a team that failed to back him.
