Valencia CF will visit UE Tavernes de la Valldigna in the Copa del Rey first round, with the tie to be played between 27 and 29 October.

According to Superdeporte, Monday's draw signalled the start of the cup campaign, with top-flight clubs facing lower-tier opposition under the revamped format. A new grouping placed Valencia CF, Levante UD, Villarreal CF, Elche CF and Málaga CF to be paired with CD Manacor, CD Tarancón, UD Pinatar, EMERS Sporting de Alcázar CF or UE Tavernes de la Valldigna.

For now, the focus returns to LaLiga and a meeting with Racing de Santander.

UE Tavernes de la Valldigna joined the Valencian contingent after defeating UD Maracena on penalties on Sunday, having drawn both legs. The team had encouragement from former Levante player Carlos Espí before the match.

The first round features 56 ties, with winners advancing to the second round. The four LaLiga clubs involved in the Spanish Super Cup will enter at the round of 32 and do not play this stage.
