On Sunday the local side completed their tie against UD Maracena, which was decided on penalties. Espí, a Real Madrid forward and one of Tavernes’ most notable neighbours, attended and took part in the RFEF draw.

He said it was a source of pride for the town to welcome a Primera club and added he would try to attend because his friends are playing.

Valencia last visited the Municipal de Tavernes de la Valldigna on 19 August 1981 for a friendly, winning 1-5. The scorers were Solsona, Arnesen, Manuel Vázquez, Gálvez and Ribes for the visitors, with Palero replying for the hosts.

The tie is scheduled for the final week of October, on 27, 28 or 29.
