Guido Rodríguez will be sidelined after Valencia confirmed a right quadriceps injury, with no specific recovery timetable.

The club said in a statement on Saturday that medical tests detected the issue in his right leg, and he will undergo treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning before returning to full training.

The Argentine midfielder had been managing discomfort after the opening rounds of LaLiga and underwent tests to determine the extent of the problem.

He has already missed group training and will sit out at least Valencia’s next fixture.

Rodríguez started the first two matches and was a key option for Carlos Corberán, leaving a gap in midfield as the team continue to seek their first win of the season.

Earlier this week Corberán welcomed back Luis Rioja after almost a month out with a similar issue in his right quadriceps, and the coach has trialled different solutions in training to cover Rodríguez’s absence.
