Valencia are working to recruit a back-up to Stole Dimitrievski after Julen Agirrezabala’s departure and with Cristian Rivero on his way out, with B-team keeper Raúl Jiménez in line to be third choice. De Telegraaf reports Valencia have held talks with Volendam for 22-year-old Kayne van Oevelen, while Voetbal International notes formal interest.
The 1.99 metre goalkeeper is on a shortlist monitored by scouting chief Lisandro Isei and European scout Hans Gillhaus.
Van Oevelen fits the brief of a young competitor for Dimitrievski, unlikely to push for the shirt immediately while adapting to LaLiga. He has made 33 Eredivisie appearances.
Volendam were relegated via the play-offs, which he missed through injury, and aim to cash in this summer. The Dutch club would request between two and three million euros, a figure near Valencia’s limits, though potential resale value is attractive.
A move would be eased by the option to register him with the B team as an under-23. Voetbal International adds that Twente have looked at him, and that Ipswich Town and Leeds United, both newly promoted to the Premier League, and Bundesliga clubs are also circling.
