According to Superdeporte, Valencia have slightly reset their goalkeeping plan. Stole Dimitrievski is to start 2026/27 as first choice, with the club targeting a single addition to compete with him. The leading option for third keeper is academy product Raúl Jiménez, after Cristian Rivero was told to seek a move.
Valencia want only one new goalkeeper rather than two, with resources focused elsewhere. Decision-makers Ron Gourlay, Lisandro Isei and Carlos Corberán are prioritising two right-backs, a centre-back, a winger and a mobile striker. The deputy keeper must be ready to cover Dimitrievski in case of injury or in the Copa del Rey.
The academy has full faith in young internationals Vicent Abril and Jiménez, and both are expected to play regularly next season. The plan is to loan Abril to a side above Segunda RFEF, where he featured for VCF Mestalla. Jiménez is envisaged as Mestalla’s regular starter under Óscar Sánchez while stepping up to the first team when required, including bench duty as third choice if schedules allow.
Jiménez, a Spain under-16 to under-20 international from Catral, needs rhythm after a year largely behind Abril. He made 10 appearances in Segunda Federación Group III and three in the Premier League International Cup. He signed a new deal earlier this year, running to June 2028.
Jiménez is recovering from a minor muscle tear, which is not serious and should not hinder imminent work. With pre-season friendlies imminent and LaLiga five weeks away, this is Valencia’s current pathway for the position.
