Valencia step up move for Pablo Maffeo | OneFootball

Valencia have made Pablo Maffeo their leading option at right-back after talks with Girona for Arnau Martínez stalled, with Fulham entering that race. The Spanish-Argentine could be heading to Mestalla.

According to AS, the move is advancing and could be finalised in the coming hours. Maffeo joined Olympiacos in June on a contract to 2029 for around two and a half million euros.

After only a few months in Greece, Valencia see a chance to add a defender who knows LaLiga well following his Mallorca spell, where he made 160 appearances.

It remains to be clarified whether he would arrive on loan or on a permanent transfer, an unusual scenario given his recent switch to Olympiacos.

Long on Valencia’s shortlist, Maffeo is now viewed as the answer to a position that has troubled the club throughout the summer.
