Valencia’s loss in Vigo brought more problems, a serious injury to Julen Agirrezabala and new fitness concerns. According to Superdeporte, the setback could push Stole Dimitrievski towards starting again, despite having had one foot out of the team.
The Macedonian, sidelined since mid-December with a right thigh adductor injury, began the week training with the group. All signs point to him being able to return in goal at Mestalla, his first LaLiga outing since Carlos Corberán’s debut in charge.
Right back Thierry Rendall did not train on Wednesday due to discomfort from the match at Balaídos. He is undergoing medical tests today.
Left back Jesús Vázquez worked separately as he recovers from a flu episode, though he is expected to be available for the LaLiga fixture.
The flu has affected several Valencia players since the end of the year, with Filip Ugrinic and Eray Cömert the latest. Both trained normally on Wednesday at Paterna.
Alongside Thierry’s absence, the injured Agirrezabala and Mouctar Diakhaby also stayed out of full group work. The rest trained under Corberán as preparations continued for Saturday’s derby at Mestalla against Elche.
