This season, Hugo Duro has established himself as an undisputed starter at Valencia, and he’s likely to continue being so for many years to come. He’s had his best scoring season in top-level football, scoring 13 goals in La Liga across 36 appearances, and that will come with a very nice reward.
As reported by Relevo, Duro is set to sign a new contract with Los Che, which would see him extend his stay until 2028. An agreement has not yet been finalised, although there is only minor details to be resolved before it can become official.
Valencia had offered Duro a new deal in March, which was initially knocked back, causing negotiations to stall. They resumed last month, and after weeks of talks, an agreement is all-but sealed. The new contract will include a significant pay increase, taking him into the second bracket of earners in Ruben Baraja’s squad.
Tying down Duro is a very shrewd move by Valencia. At 24, he should only get better, and he has the potential to be an attacking talisman for many years to come.
