Valencia have renewed their interest in Kayne Van Oevelen to increase competition for Stole Dimitrievski. According to Superdeporte, Ipswich are now open to a loan after signing compatriot Kjell Scherpen.

The club’s business has been quiet since the arrival of Ryunosuke Sato. Priority remains right-back, with talks for Arnau Martínez, while a winger and a goalkeeper are also sought.

Coaches want two goalkeepers they fully trust. Despite an initial budget a little over two million euros for any transfer, the recruit must be ready for top-level LaLiga games. Van Oevelen impressed at Volendam in the Eredivisie, and Ipswich beat Valencia to him for four million euros.

He was Valencia’s first-choice target, and their pursuit was revived after Scherpen arrived. Before the Premier League club appeared, the sporting department led by Lisandro Isei had a contractual agreement with the 23-year-old until 30 June 2031.

Ipswich want any loanee to play regular minutes. Last weekend Gary O’Neil kept Scherpen on throughout a 2-4 win at Union Berlin, leaving Van Oevelen unused. The decision to loan him has been taken in recent days as the club seeks a destination offering minutes.

Since O’Neil’s arrival, Van Oevelen started only against Oxford United across five friendlies, also appearing off the bench against Osasuna, Le Havre and Rayo Vallecano, then not at all in Berlin. Internally, Valencia speak quietly about returning to Europe in 2027/28, the first season, in theory, at the Nou Mestalla.
