Two weeks before pre-season, Valencia have only one orthodox winger firmly in Carlos Corberán's plans, Luis Rioja.
According to Superdeporte, wide players will define the window, with Valencia needing up to three additions or alternatives, whether promoting from Paterna, reviving Arnaut Danjuma or using Ryunosuke Sato out wide.
Wide recruitment is unavoidable, but numbers hinge on whether Corberán repurposes options and, crucially, looks to the academy in the first half while Diego López is injured.
Only Rioja has the coach's full backing to start. With Largie Ramazani departing, the need to secure another first-choice winger is absolute, regardless of any decision on Danjuma or the youngsters.
The Belgian is among the options if Leeds allow an exit on favourable terms, yet Valencia must go further after a truly unproductive attacking campaign that lacked depth, incision and end product.
In this context, bringing in two wingers looks close to inevitable. Another berth could come via the market, a gamble on Danjuma, or work with Sato, whose signing is lined up, to play wide despite favouring central areas.
From the academy, David Otorbi stands out. After renewing and progressing last season, pre-season is a major audition for a rotation role. Pablo López will also train with the seniors after last summer’s bright start, before injury halted a Segunda División loan.
