Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Valentín Barco to Brighton is considered a done deal. The Premier League side have triggered the player’s $10m (£7.8m) release clause and Barco is today expected to sign his contract while undergoing his initial medical examination in Argentina.
The Guardian further report that Barco is a player that Brighton have been watching for several months, while the Seagulls held positive talks with Boca Juniors last week.
Barco is expected to sign a four-and-a-half-year contract at Brighton, plus a 12 month option.
Born in Buenos Aires, Barco has represented Boca Juniors throughout the youth teams. The 19-year-old left-back, who can also operate on the left-wing, made his league debut at the age of 16 years, 11 months and 24 days.
During his time at Boca, Barco has played 35 games across all competitions, scoring one and creating four. He also started against Fluminense in the Copa Libertadores and attracted attention from Manchester City.
