The MLS Supporters Shield race took some turns this evening as both Inter Miami and Vancouver Whitecaps were in action.
Here is what went down.
The high-flying Whitecaps rallied for a late draw at home against Cascadia rivals Portland Timbers to earn a potentially important point in the Supporters Shield race.
After a dominant first-half by the visitors from Portland, capped off by a Kamal Miller stunner to open the scoring, Phil Neville's side looked all but set to take a gutsy win back home with them.
But Vancouver mounted late pressure, and that pressure paid off when Brian White bundled home the ball from close-range to snatch a point for the hosts in the dying minutes.
The late draw sees Vancouver move to within one point of top-spot in the Western Conference with a game in hand on leaders San Diego.
Inter Miami took a massive step in their hunt to defend the Supporters Shield with an impressive road win over NYCFC.
Lionel Messi nabbed two goals and an assist as the Herons moved to within five points of the top of the table, crucially with two games in hand on the majority of their rivals.
Javier Mascherano's side have looked superb since being on the receiving end of a thrashing in the Leagues Cup Final, winning three of four matches in MLS play and scoring 10 goals in the process.
Next up for Miami is a trip to face strugglers Toronto FC on Saturday as they look to remain in the hunt for the Supporters Shield.
