Varela included, De La Cruz left out as Flamengo name squad for Olimpia friendly

Flamengo have named their squad for Friday’s friendly against Olimpia at Mané Garrincha, with Varela included and De La Cruz omitted. Kick-off is at 20:00 Brasília time. It is the club’s fourth and final warm-up before the Brasileiro restart.

According to Globo.com, the Uruguayan pair rejoined the squad on Tuesday and have trained as usual.

Plata also returned on Tuesday but has yet to begin on-pitch work. The Ecuadorian forward is limited to gym sessions and his absence for Olimpia had already been set in advance.

Alex Sandro and Danilo resumed their routines on Thursday and were not considered for the trip to Brasília.

Arrascaeta and Lucas Paquetá remain in recovery from injuries, to the right calf and left hamstring respectively.
