According to PaponaColina, Vasco da Gama have moved quickly to secure their first international addition for 2026, reaching agreement to take Johan Rojas on loan from Monterrey.

The 23-year-old Colombian chose Vasco despite late interest from River Plate, Peñarol and Atlético Nacional, who attempted to hijack the deal.

The player's preference proved decisive, as he had an understanding with the Rio club's hierarchy. Monterrey also turned down Atlético Nacional’s approach.

The loan runs until December 2026 and includes an option to buy set at 4.5 million euros, around R$ 29 million.

Right-footed and versatile, Rojas impressed at La Equidad wearing the number 10, recording seven goals and 10 assists across three seasons before moving to Mexico. After an inconsistent stint at Monterrey and a spell at Necaxa, he heads to Rio de Janeiro aiming to regain prominence.
