Vasco da Gama have struck a deal with Nottingham Forest to sign left-back Cuiabano on loan until the end of the year. The 22-year-old arrived in Rio on Thursday morning for a medical and final paperwork.
According to PaponaColina, the agreement includes an option to buy at the end of the loan. Vasco had tracked him since early January and the player was keen to return to Brazilian football.
Cuiabano has chosen the number 66 shirt. He is delighted to join and feels fit after two Under-21 appearances at Forest and recent training, though selection rests with Fernando Diniz.
His arrival adds depth at left-back, with Lucas Piton the established starter. The staff wanted cover for a busy calendar, and Diniz gains a strong, attack-minded option.
His debut could come against former club Botafogo on Sunday eight in the Cariocão, if his registration is cleared in the CBF’s BID by Friday. He could start or be on the bench.
Formed at Grêmio, he broke through at rivals Botafogo with goals and assists that earned a move to England. He played little for Nottingham Forest, mostly with the B team, and returns eager to impress.
