Vasco are closing in on the loan signing of 26-year-old centre-back Gabriel Pereira from Copenhagen. He is due in Rio de Janeiro in the coming days for medical tests and to sign, with an option to buy that could become an obligation if targets are met.

Gabriel’s determination to join Vasco was decisive. The Volta Redonda native has a son who lives in Rio, a factor that strengthened his wish to return to the state and play at São Januário.

A regular starter at Copenhagen, he has spent three seasons with the Danish side, making 97 appearances. Earlier in his career he played for Vilafranquense and Gil Vicente in Portugal, and in Brazil he has only represented Volta Redonda.
