Globo.com reports that Vasco are close to extending midfielder Guilherme Estrella’s contract, with salary terms already agreed and confirmation anticipated shortly. The 21-year-old’s current deal runs until December 2028, and he is expected to sign an extension to 2028.

Fernando Diniz and the board intend to assess Estrella during the Carioca in the first quarter of the season, then loan him to another club in Brazil to secure game time.

The plan is designed to guarantee minutes for a player who has struggled for a run of matches due to recurring injuries in recent months. Estrella is viewed as having potential, but he has dealt with knee problems for two years.

He did not establish himself in the first team in 2025, making only three appearances last season.

Opportunities shrank after reinforcements arrived in the last transfer window, and he even dropped to the under-20s to bolster the squad in decisive matches.
