Vasco could lose up to six players to international duty in the upcoming FIFA window. According to PaponaColina, several members of the club’s foreign contingent are in line for call-ups to pre-World Cup friendlies.

Brazil provided no call-ups, with right-back Paulo Henrique omitted from Carlo Ancelotti’s most recent selection. Final squads are expected to be confirmed this week.

Colombia coach Néstor Lorenzo has placed Andrés Gómez, Johan Rojas, Carlos Cuesta and Marino Hinestroza on a preliminary list for meetings with France and Croatia. The leading candidate to make the final cut, due at the weekend, is winger Andrés Gómez, who has been a standout this season and was previously called without playing.

Others face hurdles. Cuesta was in the last squad but recent pain in his right knee has disrupted his rhythm and kept him out of Vasco’s first team. Hinestroza and Rojas are outsiders amid fierce competition for midfield and forward berths.

Uruguay right-back Puma Rodríguez, who wears number two, is a frequent pick under Marcelo Bielsa and awaits confirmation for games against England and Algeria, which the 70-year-old coach is due to announce in the coming days. He was listed in the previous window but stayed on the bench against the United States.

Centre-back Alan Saldivia is also on the radar of Uruguay’s Olympic set-up, though his inclusion appears less likely. He featured at the 2024 Pan American Games but has yet to receive a senior opportunity under Bielsa during this cycle.
