Vasco da Gama are in advanced talks for one of the biggest commercial deals in their history. RTI Esporte reports that BYD would take the main shirt slot on a package of R$ 55 million a season, rising to up to R$ 80 million.

The contract under discussion includes performance and commercial triggers, such as sales targets, brand exposure and trophies, which could lift the total to that higher figure.

The Chinese company views Brazil as a priority market for its electric vehicles, and football is seen as the ideal shop window. Vasco’s large, engaged fanbase, national reach and strong audiences on free-to-air TV and streaming underpin the choice.

For Vasco, the timing is significant. After a busy window and a reshaping that saw 16 departures, fresh revenue of this scale would bring predictability and increase investment capacity in the football department. Internally, the view is that a master deal at this level could help balance the budget and further strengthen Fernando Diniz’s squad.

Despite the advanced stage, no agreement has been signed. Legal and commercial teams are finalising clauses around exposure commitments and the payment schedule. If those steps are cleared, an official announcement could follow in the coming weeks for the 2026 season.
