Vasco da Gama are close to signing Colombian winger Marino Hinestroza from Atlético Nacional after moving ahead of Boca Juniors, according to Canal do Pedrosa.

The 23-year-old had been set to join the Argentine club, but Vasco entered the race over the last five days and changed the player’s destination. The package is expected to total around six million dollars, comprising a five million dollar instalment deal plus fees and commissions, roughly R$ 34 million.

Fernando Diniz has long targeted Hinestroza and was a key figure in the talks, speaking directly to convince him to choose Rio de Janeiro. The winger’s profile mirrors Jhon Arias, a pillar of Diniz’s success with a tricolour rival.

Hinestroza offers physical power, covers ground across the pitch and excels in one against one situations. After a muted 2020 spell in Palmeiras’ academy, he broke out at Atlético Nacional, impressed in the Libertadores and earned a Colombia call-up in 2025.

The deal is not dependent on the sale of Rayan. Vasco are also progressing on Brenner, with only financial guarantees outstanding to finalise terms with Udinese.
