Vasco president Pedrinho used his official Instagram on Tuesday to hit back at journalist Rodrigo Capelo after a video on Estadão Esportes discussing a potential conflict of interest around a possible sale of the club’s SAF to new investors.
His anger centred on claims Vasco were moving towards a deal with Marcos Lamacchia, a businessman linked to Crefisa and the stepson of Palmeiras president Leila Pereira. Pedrinho posted a screenshot from the video and urged that speculation stop unsettling work at São Januário.
He rejected the report, saying the footage was old and that details about prospective investors were inaccurate. In his message, he said the club’s election is in December, criticised Capelo’s record and told outsiders to leave Vasco in peace.
The row underlines the tension as the club seeks to resolve its legal dispute with 777 Partners. The current board has kept negotiations tightly guarded to protect the first team and avoid rumours that could deter reliable partners.
In the video that prompted the backlash, Capelo argued that if the Lamacchia family were to buy Vasco while retaining influence at Palmeiras there would be an unavoidable conflict of interest because the clubs compete in the same elite competitions. He suggested investors should choose one institution, not both.
