Vasco push Betis to close Deossa deal as talks drag on | OneFootball

According to Globo.com, Vasco are pressing Betis to finalise Nelson Deossa's signing this week, though Manuel Pellegrini is still using the midfielder in pre-season after a sale was accepted weeks ago.

Vasco believe they have met every demand, having agreed terms with Betis, provided the required financial guarantees and reached a verbal agreement with the player. They are now waiting for the operation to be completed.

Admar Lopes is in Argentina to close a deal with Racing for Santiago Sosa, as the club aim to conclude both moves this week. Talks for Deossa have stretched beyond a month, causing internal frustration.

Vasco's proposal is a loan with an obligation to buy for 10 million euros, rising to 12 million with bonuses.

Pellegrini is still fielding Deossa in friendlies. He has been named to face Lyon on Wednesday and has even been tested as a centre-forward.

Betis need player sales this window to balance the books. Ordinary income has not covered expenses, so losses are expected this year and could be offset next season.

Deossa is regarded as having a strong market and significant interest, though none match Vasco's figures. The mood at São Januário remains optimistic about signing the Colombian.

Deossa and Sosa are viewed as first-tier targets to lift the side. Both were mapped by the football department led by Admar Lopes and Felipe. Sosa is a ball-winning midfielder with leadership and intensity, while Deossa would add mobility, dynamism and finishing across the midfield.
