Vasco lost 1-0 to Flamengo in the clássico, a night defined by Léo Jardim’s heroics and costly errors elsewhere. The goalkeeper was comfortably their standout as several starters faltered.
According to Globo.com, Barros, PH, Lucas Piton and GB received the lowest marks, while Andrés Gómez was their best outfield performer with Rayan and Vegetti absent.
Before 15 minutes, PH made three errors in succession that gifted Flamengo dangerous breaks. At 0-0 he released GB clean through, but the forward failed to beat Rossi.
Jardim produced six difficult saves, three of them extraordinary, in one of his finest displays for the club.
At the back, Carlos Cuesta struggled in the air and looked exposed. Robert Renan misplaced passes early on yet coped best against Flamengo’s press, though the line suffered under constant service from wide.
Piton could not contain Plata and a poor clearance from Léo Pereira’s cross ran to Carrascal, who struck the decisive goal.
Early in the second half, Barros was sent off for a needless foul on Carrascal, leaving Vasco short. Philippe Coutinho dropped deep to link play, faded late, then departed after requesting the change.
Nuno Moreira had little influence before making way after the red. Hugo Moura added ballast without fuss, while Tchê Tchê barely touched the ball. Fernando Diniz’s changes came late and made little difference with 10 men.
