Marino Hinestroza arrives at Vasco with a hard-edged persona to match a breakout year at Atlético Nacional. The forward said he is tired of being humble and not winning, framing his ambition with an unapologetically arrogant streak after claiming the Colombian league and cup.

According to Globo.com, Vasco will pay around US$ five million, about R$ 30 million, for 80% of the Colombian’s economic rights.

He produced his best season in 2025, scoring seven and supplying nine assists in 57 matches, underpinning that double.

Known for dribbling and pace out wide, he brings a provocative edge and engages with club matters on and off the pitch. A reporter covering Atlético Nacional described him as intense on the field yet humble away from it, with no issues around nightlife or his private life.

Hinestroza has even joined supporters outside the stadium after a league match to play instruments and share the celebrations. The reception was warm, and more time was seen as the missing ingredient for idol status.

Palmeiras academy chief João Paulo Sampaio has described him as a one-on-one threat, an improviser with powerful carry who is difficult to stop on his day.
