Vasco da Gama have entered the race to sign Flamengo midfielder Allan as they look to strengthen their midfield. ESPN reports that the club are pursuing the experienced player.
Allan is viewed as a market opportunity, with the Flamengo coaching staff not counting on him despite a contract running to December 2027.
Vasco are initially working on a season-long loan, a model considered viable internally. The club are leaning on Allan's strong relationship with head coach Fernando Diniz, seen as key to moving talks forward.
Diniz has already spoken directly to the player to assess the landscape and his appetite for a switch within Rio de Janeiro. The pair previously worked together at Fluminense in 2019, a high point in Allan's career.
Another factor that could help is Allan's representation by Giuliano Bertolucci, who also represents Diniz, as well as Brenner and Cuiabano, players recently involved in negotiations with Vasco. The proximity between the parties could unlock discussions and speed a deal.
Before Vasco's approach, Corinthians and São Paulo made enquiries in recent weeks, but those moves did not advance, leaving the midfielder's future at Flamengo unresolved.
Aged 28, Allan is regarded as intense, tidy in build up and experienced in decisive games, traits that appeal to Vasco's staff as they continue to monitor the market for an impactful addition in midfield.
