The transfer window opens on Monday with Vasco not planning immediate reinforcements, as Pedro Emanuel evaluates the squad and recent off-field changes reshape timelines.

According to Globo.com, Nelson Deossa is lined up as the potential first addition, with documents and financial guarantees sent to Betis last Thursday and the club awaiting approval early this week for the midfielder to travel to Rio de Janeiro. The deal is a loan with an obligation to buy at 10 million euros, potentially rising to 12 million, roughly R$ 58.5 million to R$ 70 million at current rates.

Emanuel completes his first week in charge on Monday and is in daily contact with the football department. He has stressed that, with the market open, entries and exits are possible, but he wants time to know the group and will not share specifics publicly for now, speaking after his debut against Vitória.

The club plan patience while waiting for a positive signal from Lamacchia’s negotiations before committing to larger investments. The window closes on 11 September.

Vasco are also targeting a centre-back, focusing on right-footed profiles strong in the air. The club have sought information on Murilo of Palmeiras, Diego Carlos of Como, Vítor Tormena of Krasnodar and Gabriel Pereira of Copenhagen.

Before Emanuel’s arrival, a forward was also under consideration during the World Cup break. The coach believes the squad can perform better, and the football department aim to revive underperformers, notably Brenner and Marino Hinestroza.
