Vasco spent more than R$ 100 million on six signings in the first window, yet the first half of 2026 disappointed. Boos and protests marked a campaign that paused with Renato Gaúcho’s side 17th on 20 points.
According to Globo.com, Marino Hinestroza, signed for R$ 30 million, has 18 appearances, only five starts and no goal involvement, amid friction with fans and the coach. Brenner, bought for about R$ 30 million, has 24 games, 11 starts and three goals, plus an 11-match drought.
Defender Alan Saldivia has endured errors and jeers, including the 3-0 loss to Bragantino before the pause. He leads the new arrivals for minutes, 1897, yet his place is in doubt and the club want a right-sided centre-back. He has 20 games and three own goals.
Claudio Spinelli shares Vasco’s 2025 scoring lead with five goals, alongside Puma Rodríguez and Thiago Mendes. Signed as cover for Vegetti, he has 22 games, 11 starts and one assist.
Johan Rojas has largely avoided scrutiny. He adapted swiftly, started under Fernando Diniz and inherited the No 10 after Coutinho’s exit. He leads Vasco for assists in 2025 and has two goals, remaining a regular under Renato.
Left-back Cuiabano impressed on debut, posting four assists and a goal in his first four matches. He displaced Piton before a thigh injury kept him out for nearly a month, then returned short of rhythm. He totals 14 games, one goal and four assists.
