Former Italy international Marco Verratti is set to purchase a significant stake in his former club Pescara, with whom he made his senior debut back in 2008.
Verratti, who is currently employed by Al-Arabi of the Qatar Stars League, is just ‘one step away’ from purchasing a large stake in his former club Pescara, who finished the 2024-25 season in fourth place in Serie C Group B.
The 32-year-old will not become the majority owner, but is set to acquire around 40% of the shares in his hometown team, which is expected to cost somewhere in the region of €1.5m.

According to reports from Il Centro, via TMW, Verratti has already signed a preliminary agreement to become a shareholder at Pescara, and is likely to have completed the necessary transactions and paperwork within the next month.
Pescara is the only Italian team that Verratti has played for in his career to date. Having made his debut as a 15-year-old, he went on to play a crucial role in the team’s promotion from Serie B in 2011-12, and earned a move to Paris Saint-Germain as a result.
Verratti spent the next 11 years in Paris, making 416 appearances across all competitions, and has spent the last two seasons in Qatar with Al-Arabi, meaning that he has still never played in Serie A at the age of 32.
